AgapeHealth Psychological Services with Dr. Karen Egu
Therapy can offer a safe and validating space to navigate through some of life's challenges. My approach is supportive, integrative, culturally-informed, collaborative, and respectful. I use my passion, advocacy, and expertise in mental health services to provide my clients with the language and safety to navigate through mental health struggles to foster a meaningful life.

Karen Egu, PsyD
Dr. Egu specializes in trauma, severe mental illness, and psychological assessment. She chose this specialty to advocate and reduce the stigma of mental illness. She believes living with mental illness is never easy, but stepping into discomfort to do the work is powerful and healing. Dr. Egu defines quality healthcare as empathy, collaborative care, and actively listening to her patients. Her relational approach and diligence to infuse evidenced-based treatments, focus on integration of the comprehensive whole person, multicultural awareness in understanding and supporting her patients is what makes her practice special. Her goal is to support the individuals she works with to foster sovereignty over their own psychological wellness.
Outside of her practice, she enjoys spending time with her loved ones, dog, and trying new cultural cuisines.

McKayla Roberts, MA
Psychological Associate
McKayla Roberts is a psychological associate, 4th-year doctoral candidate, and co-lead of the Black Student Union at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. She is also a proud boy mom! Her academic background includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Oral Roberts University and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Montclair State University.
McKayla’s clinical experience includes working across the lifespan, beginning with children as young as 10 through adolescents, young adults, and adults, with a particular emphasis on serving individuals, couples, and families within the Black community. Her therapeutic work has addressed a wide range of concerns, including depression, complex posttraumatic stress disorder, postpartum depression, grief, life transitions, and chronic medical conditions such as idiopathic intracranial hypertension, type 1 diabetes, fibromyalgia, and lupus. She has also supported clients managing anxiety related to family dynamics, cultural trauma, academic stress, social communication challenges, specific eating disorders, and performance anxiety in athletic settings.
McKayla utilizes a trauma-informed approach grounded in narrative therapy and draws on culturally affirming interventions and art therapy to align care with the lived experiences and identities of her clients.
She is passionate about building therapeutic spaces that carry the same sense of belonging and cultural rhythm as hair salons and barbershops, where healing often begins with conversation and connection.
